It was already week 6! Time to do some research on the fabrication and colour. I was looking at some leather at lefler, colours are from my inpiration picture.
By the end of week5, I tried to make a bra out of wool suiting fabric as I was trying to play with idea of “making lingerie with outerwear fabric”. Drape was used to apply on the bra as well.
In week5 I go back to read the historical reference from high Gothic period. Some of the painting I fould were very useful for my research on the use of drape as well as the rivh colours.

I tried to make a toile out of the collages I developed, using cheap polyester crystal organza was obviously a mistake…
These are the three larger beak masks made out of textile: synamay, knit and mixed texture. I mainly used them to drape on the body and took images then made collages out of those pictures.
Collage is one of my most used method to create silhouette, it was not certain in week 3 yet, but worth trying.
I also made a few tiny beak masks in week3 and tried to put it on the mannequin, but iit was not very effective.
I put the “mix texture” beak mask on different position of a mannequine as well as on Emma’s body. To see what it looks like on a body, what kind of possibility can achieve.
This is a small video I made to indicate my design practice.
3 stages:
1 getting inspirations (I got inspiration pretty much from everywhere: daily objects, events, history, arts, etc.)
2 design ( I am the person who wotk both on paper and stand, I found it helps more while working both ways)
3 making ( this is the fun part but frustrations comes often as well, there is one still motion of me using thread winding around my little dummy to represent this)
